    Itinerary
4 Day Desert Tour from Marrakech

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Gorge

Your adventure begins as we depart the ochre city of Marrakech, ascending the winding switchbacks of the Tizi n’Tichka pass. From this high vantage point, soak in panoramic views of the High Atlas mountains and spot remote Berber villages clinging to the hillsides. Our first major stop is the magnificent Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a striking UNESCO World Heritage site whose clay architecture has served as the backdrop for countless films. After exploring its winding alleys and enjoying a local lunch, we continue our journey. We’ll pass through the “Hollywood of Morocco,” Ouarzazate, before skirting the lush Skoura palm grove. Depending on the season (spring), the fragrant Valley of Roses will be in bloom. Our final destination for the day is the imposing rock formations of the Dades Gorge, where we’ll settle in for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Dades Gorge – Todra Gorges – Merzouga

After breakfast, we journey deeper into the rock, exploring the towering, narrow canyon of the Todra Gorges. Here, the sheer 300-meter cliff faces create a dramatic corridor. Following a lunch break within the gorge, we push further south, leaving the mountains behind as the landscape begins to flatten and hint at the vast Sahara. Our destination is the village of Merzouga, perched on the edge of the immense Erg Chebbi dunes. Here, you’ll have dinner and spend the night in a comfortable hotel, resting up for the desert experience ahead.

Day 3: Merzouga – Khamlia – Desert Oasis & Camp

The day is dedicated to the culture and magic of the desert. We begin by exploring the Merzouga area, visiting the village of Khamlia, home to the Gnawa people. You’ll be welcomed with traditional mint tea and be captivated by the hypnotic rhythms of their spiritual music. In the afternoon, the real adventure begins. You’ll swap four wheels for four legs, mounting a camel to trek into the heart of the golden dunes. As you ride, you’ll pause at a hidden, untouched oasis to experience the desert’s profound silence. The trek culminates with a breathtaking sunset over the dunes, followed by a night in a traditional Berber desert camp. Under a blanket of stars, you’ll enjoy a delicious dinner and the unique ambiance of the Sahara.

Day 4: Merzouga – Rissani – Ziz Valley – Cedar Forest – Fes

Wake early to witness the sunrise paint the dunes in soft hues of orange and gold. After breakfast in the camp, we begin our journey north. We’ll stop in Rissani to explore its bustling, authentic souk, a true Berber market experience. Our route then takes us through the dramatic Ziz Valley, a palette of deep green palm trees against a rugged landscape, and through the town of Errachidia. As we climb into the cooler climes of the Middle Atlas, we’ll stop in the cedar forests near Azrou, where you can observe the cheeky Barbary macaques in their natural habitat. Our final highlight is a drive through the alpine-style town of Ifrane, a stark contrast to the desert we just left. We arrive in the imperial city of Fes in the early evening, where you will be transferred to your accommodation.
